Dermasweep Microdermabrasion baltimore

Dermasweep microdermabrasion is a fast, customizable cosmetic treatment for fresher, healthier, younger-looking skin. It can be performed on the face, neck, décolletté, hands, and arms. It’s an effective three-step procedure that exfoliates the top layer of the skin, increases microcirculation in deeper tissue, and replenishes key skin nutrients. Dermasweep is suitable for men and women looking to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, skin laxity, and other skin concerns. It can also be used to gently improve pigmentation issues such as rosacea and blemishes.

Everyone has unique skin problems. Many of us suffer from dull, dry skin, while others experience oily, hard-to-manage skin that breaks out easily. People facing these problems often turn to over-the-counter solutions to help. However, the vast majority of these products can only do one thing at a time. They fail to provide deep, satisfactory cleansing that simultaneously resurfaces, hydrates and delivers key nutrients. The best thing about Dermasweep microdermabrasion is that it’s customizable. The device has multiple interchangeable bristle tip attachments of varying firmness and length. This means each treatment can be tailored to your specific aesthetic requirements!

About Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally-invasive skin resurfacing treatment, and one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the United States. (1) It mechanically exfoliates superficial layers of the epidermis. This treatment type is not only shown to be an efficient way to address a variety of skin conditions, but also to enable the deep absorption of active substances deep into the skin. (2)

A three-step Dermasweep microdermabrasion procedure can treat:

  • Acne
  • Blemishes
  • Dark Patches
  • Dry Skin
  • Dull Skin
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Fine Lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Laxity (Sagging)
  • Oily Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Wrinkles

Skin Layers

The epidermis is the outermost layer of the three layers of skin: the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis. Our epidermis is a remarkable organ which is composed of five different layers.

Stratum Corneum – The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the skin that functions as the primary barrier between our bodies and the outside environment. It serves to protect the body from damaging elements and retains essential moisture.

Stratum Lucidum – Below the stratum corneum is a thin layer known as the stratum lucidum, which is only found in areas of thick skin throughout the body such as the soles of our feet and the palms of our hands. Fibers responsible for skin elasticity are found here, as well as proteins that control skin cell degeneration.

Stratum Granulosum – Also known as the granular layer, the stratum granulosum contains mature keratinocytes – epidermal cells that produce large amounts of keratin, the protein that makes up the structure of our hair, skin, and nails.

Stratum Spinosum – The stratum spinosum is the second deepest layer of the skin. It contains desmosomes (protein complexes that anchor cells to one another). The main function of this layer is to enable keratinocytes to mature.

Stratum Basale – The deepest layer of the skin is the stratum basale. It is a single-cell thick layer that separates the epidermis from the dermis.

Microdermabrasion treatments remove the outermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, but also affect the deeper layers of the dermis and epidermis. (1)

What Makes Dermasweep Different?

Dermasweep Microdermabrasion baltimore

A Dermasweep procedure is multiple skin treatments in one convenient procedure! Unlike other microdermabrasion techniques that blast microcrystals to exfoliate the skin, Dermasweep lifts and clears debris from the stratum granulosum with uniquely designed bristle tips. This micro-resurfacing technique also promotes the production of collagen, a key structural component that strengthens and supports the skin. What’s more, Dermasweep employs Epi Infusion technology which enables essential nutrients to be dispatched directly into the skin. As the bristles gently exfoliate the surface of your skin, boosting oxygenation in the treatment area, Epi Infusion delivers tailored, advanced infusions of skin-strengthening ingredients such as growth factors, hyaluronic acid, peptides, AHAs, and vitamin C. After only 30 minutes, you’ll rediscover silkier, restored, vibrant skin once more!

Personal Consultation

During your personal consultation, we will listen to your skin concerns and offer our expert advice. Please feel free to ask questions and show us the areas you’d like to treat with a Dermasweep procedure. We will use this opportunity to take a close look at your skin quality, and note the presence and types of imperfection. Once we have completed a thorough evaluation of the area you wish to treat, we’ll know if Dermasweep microdermabrasion is right for you and schedule your treatment.

Preparation

It is essential to follow some simple guidelines prior to your Dermasweep procedure to get the most out of your session.

  • The week before your procedure, please stop at-home skin exfoliation treatments. We also advise you to increase your sun protection by wearing high SPF sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure where possible.
  • A few days before your Dermasweep treatment, please avoid the use of any retinoid treatments and skin care products that contain acids and increase sensitivity.
  • Arrive for your treatment well-hydrated and well-rested!

Procedure

Dermasweep Microdermabrasion baltimore

Dermasweep microdermabrasion is an amazingly fast, straightforward procedure. In just one session, our patients see noticeably smoother, brighter skin that looks healthier and more youthful. A session begins after the skin is cleansed, dried, and prepared. We will attach the appropriate bristle tip for your skin onto the Dermasweep wand. We will then switch the machine on, and slough off dead skin in the treatment area. The bristles exfoliate, while the suction removes debris from the skin’s surface. The motion of the bristles also turns skin pinker as it stimulates blood flow, encourages microcirculation toward the surface, and promotes new collagen production. Some patients compare the feeling to a sandpaper-like sensation, but this treatment is otherwise painless.

The buffing motion of the next stage of the treatment continues to refine and smooth pores gently with a softer bristle attachment, while simultaneously infusing the tailored nutrients chosen for your treatment. These serums contain nourishing and replenishing properties that help to strengthen and repair the skin after exfoliation. We will finish your treatment by applying moisturizing serums to nourish and protect your newly resurfaced skin.

Results

You will notice silky smooth, brand-new skin immediately after your treatment. After the temporary redness has resolved in just a few hours, you will experience a brighter-looking complexion that will continue to revitalize itself with fresh collagen production and increased blood flow. Our patients see their results last and maintain balanced, healthy skin, helping them look their best, and “red carpet ready”.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Microneedling

Dermapen Microneedling is a treatment that attains similar results to a Dermasweep treatment. It’s also minimally-invasive, but instead of suction and exfoliation methods, dull, blemished skin can be addressed with tiny medical-grade needles. When applied to the skin, these needles create micro-channels which induce a healing response, resulting in boosted collagen production, and renewed, healthier-looking skin!

Botox

Many of our patients choose to receive Botox at the same time as their Dermasweep treatment. Botox is a neuromodulator which, when injected into targeted muscle groups, disrupts their messages to the brain. The muscle is no longer able to contract and cause dynamic wrinkles and lines in the forehead, at the corners of the eyes, and in other areas of the face prone to showing signs of aging. Botox can therefore smooth out skin for a more youthful appearance.
