Is Dr. Wells board certified in plastic surgery?

Dr. Wells is board certified in both plastic surgery and otolaryngology — head and neck surgery. She is among a smaller group of surgeons who have been, because of their full training in 2 different specialties, able to attain double board certification.

Why is board certification from The American Board of Plastic Surgery important?

Certification from The American Board of Plastic Surgery is very important because it ensures a plastic surgeon’s expertise, specialized training, and experience. All board-certified plastic surgeons have successfully completed specialized residencies in plastic surgery, as well as rigorous oral and written examinations in plastic surgery. They are held to high ethical standards and are required to maintain their skills through continuing education.

There are many organizations that have created “boards” that sound like The American Board of Plastic Surgery, allowing some doctors who are associated to make claims to super-specialization.

Only one board is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Medical Association for the certification of plastic surgeons: The American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Will my procedure be covered by insurance? Does Dr. Wells accept insurance?

Dr. Wells participates with many insurance companies, and some procedures that she performs are covered by insurance. In general, only procedures recognized as medically necessary are eligible for any type of insurance coverage. Breast reconstruction following mastectomy is an example of a procedure that qualifies for insurance coverage.

Valley Plastic Surgery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
